This may all seem a bit far-fetched and too extraordinary until you realize the basis upon which the most powerful conversational hypnosis techniques work. “Underground Hypnosis” by Taylor Starr is our second recommendation. It focuses on what is known as “black ops” where conversational hypnosis techniques are used in a slightly more devious way to manipulate people in a more extreme fashion. Some of this material may be considered “morally questionable” but the techniques presented are none-the-less effective if done right. Aside from the “darker” material there are some very good techniques to make you appear confident, powerful and expert in front of any audience that are definitely worth your time.

If your focus is to learn conversational hypnosis to benefit your skills in sales and advertising then our 3rd recommendation “Covert Hypnosis” by Kevin Hogan may be more your flavour. While the course is not as indepth as Igor Ledochowski’s it still presents some very valuable strategies, however this book has a narrow focus exclusively on conversational hypnosis for sales either in person or in print. Yes – you can use conversational hypnosis in your writing and any copywriter worth their salt has studied how to do this. Whether you are writing a full page advertisement for a Fortune 500 company or you are simply writing a job ad to attract candidates, you have the ability to activate subconscious triggers in your readers that apply to a large range of people and having knowledge of how to do this will definitely affect the conversion rate of your material.

As I write this I am thinking back to my days as a junior recruitment consultant trying to push through the ranks. The book is certainly written with sensationalism in mind but having researched and used conversational hypnosis in my own business development career as a recruitment executive, I can say that Starr’s course does include some meaty gems that anyone in a sales, business or marketing role would be mad to miss.

Some of his most powerful techniques include:

• The “Iron Man” – this is an essential weapon for anyone who wants to “close a deal” without doubt in the client’s mind. It involves making yourself seem powerful, knowledgeable and ultra-confident to the point where others feel overwhelmed by you.

Any professional who hopes to win a pay rise or a lucrative job offer, get a prospect to buy from them, or convince anyone of their worth needs to appear as an expert at the top of their game. It is not just knowledge that convinces us that someone is an expert. In fact in the short space of a meeting we see very little of someone’s knowledge and if we are unfamiliar with the topic we have only one way to know whether someone truly “knows what they are talking about”.

We make a judgement about their manner and their confidence. If they do not hesitate in any way, use the right phrases and seem “cool” and in control as they present to us, we subconsciously decide that they are the “expert” that we need.
